• This phrase can be understood as “The Rule of Christ”
• Mark, Luke and John use the phrase ‘Kingdom of God’, while Matthew instead uses ‘Kingdom of Heaven’.
Matthew 4:17 “From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.””
• At the beginning He was clarifying things for them.
• The Sower is Jesus (Matthew 13:37) - We also become the sower when we spread the Gospel
1. Along the path - (Matthew 13:4, 13:19)
2. Rocky ground - (Matthew 13:5-6, 13:20-21)
3. Thorns - (Matthew 13:7, 13:22)
4. Good soil - (Matthew 13:8, 13:23)
• Because they continually resist the Truth, God gives them over to the hardness they have chosen. (Romans 1:28-32)
• If you can still feel the urge of your heart to turn your life over to Christ - don’t ignore it!
• Are we a light in this dark world?
• The Kingdom starts small but grows much larger than expected
• The Word goes out into the world one heart at a time - and it starts by hearing;
• We should be willing to give up everything else in our lives. We have Jesus as our example in that....
• Just like the wheat and the weeds live together, so do the good and bad fish
• We don’t “unhitch” from God’s treasures......new or old....
• Their hard hearts kept them from seeing what was right in front of their eyes.
• Parables aren’t meant to be taken in like a data transfer. They are meant to be meditated on. Everyone had ears, but not everybody was truly hearing.
What kind of soil are we?
